Love is better in the afternoon
Richard Marchelier, a Government Minister comes to a hotel with his wife in the hope of seducing the opposition’s secretary into an illicit affair; what ensues is a delightful mess as he enlists his assistant Georges Pigier to aide him in the deception. Pigier finds himself stuck in middle as he mistakenly makes an advance towards Richard’s wife and suddenly is trapped in a potential dalliance himself, in the room next door to Richard’s forbidden love-nest no less. Jean Poiret’s ingenious French adaptation of Ray Cooney’s classic British farce Two into one is a flirtatious cacophony of lust, deception and mistaken identity all playing out in one hotel run by prudish and suspicious hotel manager and his gaggle of dopey workers. This masterful sexy farce has a long history of successful runs since its premier in Protected content , it is a timeless comedy which remains relevant no matter where, when or even in what language it is performed! Join us for a night of raucous fun and chaotic hilarity.
Add in a vice-hunting female MP who prowls the corridors like a female bloodhound and you have a recipe for panic, confusion, multiple disguises and revolving doors like no other.
“Cooney’s play can hold its own with the very best of the French master, Feydeau.”
