Bamberg Symphony – Hrůša – Hannigan

The Bamberg Symphony, famous for its characteristic dark, smooth yet brilliant sound, presents itself to the Dresden audience with its young Czech chief conductor Jakub Hrůša for the first time, joined by the fantastic Canadian soprano Barbara Hannigan. The singer has been celebrated for years as a vocal virtuoso and exceptional performer on stages around the world. Together with the Bamberg Symphony, this outstanding protagonist of musical modernism performs Hans Abrahamsen’s song cycle »Let me tell you«, which the Danish composer wrote especially for the soprano, commissioned by the Berlin Philharmonic and the Danish Arts Foundation. The second half of the program features Bruckner’s Fourth Symphony, often considered his most popular symphony. Its sobriquet »The Romantic« was bestowed upon it by the composer himself.
