Le premier long-métrage de l’acteur et réalisateur Carlos Chahine, « La Nuit du verre d’eau », entraîne au cœur du Liban, durant l’été 58, dans un joli village éloigné de la guerre qui gronde au loin. On y découvre la vie d’une riche famille de la bourgeoisie chrétienne. Dans un tel contexte, à quel destin les femmes pourront-elles être promises, et avec quelle liberté de choix ?

The first feature film by actor and director Carlos Chahine, “The Night of the Glass of Water”, takes you to the heart of Lebanon, during the summer of 58, in a pretty village far from the war that rumbles in the distance. We discover the life of a rich family of the Christian bourgeoisie. In such a context, what destiny can women be promised, and with what freedom of choice?
