As part of the PhotoSaintGermain festival, the Italian Cultural Institute is pleased to present the work of Gianni Berengo Gardin, historical figure of contemporary Italian photography. Born in Protected content , an indefatigable witness of the second half of the 20th century, Gianni Berengo Gardin traveled throughout Italy collecting stories and images of the great and small changes that went through it. From the immense archives of the photographer, the sixty black and white photos exhibited at the Hôtel de Galliffet, taken between Protected content 2009, form a surprising photographic atlas that captures the wealth of popular festivals, costumes and Italian regional traditions. . With his camera, Berengo Gardin reveals a world teeming with children, gypsies, young and mature women in festive clothes, dancers of all ages, on which he looks both ethnographer and benevolent curious. Opening in the presence of Giulia Cogoli, curator of the exhibition and Roberto Koch, photographer and founder of Contrasto editions. In collaboration with Contrasto, Pistoia Dialoghi sull'Uomo and the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Pistoia e Pescia.
