ONCE UPON A TIME SERGIO LEONE: THE FAMOUS ITALIAN FILMMAKER
Exposing Sergio Leone, his life and his films inextricably linked, is to experience the tremendous power of a cinematic imaginary and follow the destiny of a small Roman Trastevere who played a lot of cowboys and Indians before transforming the rules and Western codes to conquer the vast world.
Genre given to death in the early Protected content , spent with weapons and luggage on television in an impoverished and serial form, the western, formerly "the American cinema par excellence" (to use the title of a famous article by André Bazin), survived only in the dreams of his worshipers of the ward rooms and playgrounds.
Sergio Leone was one of those and will remain so all his life, even after the commercial triumphs, still able to ask a Bernardo Bertolucci flabbergasted by so much naiveté and "first degree", during the first clearing work of the screenplay. Once upon a time in the West Protected content , how did he draw, when he was little, his toy revolver, mimicking the gestures of childhood: rather like this or rather like that? Bertolucci wondered if Leone was joking, making fun of him, or being a bit silly, a bit simple.
