Desire vs Love 2 (Lacan's psychoanalysis V)
In the link above you will find the first part of the talk Desire vs Love. I think it will be useful for understanding the second part. Enjoy it!
“If he loves a woman he doesn't desire her, and if he desires her he can't love her” (Freud)
“Does man desire women, or does man desire a woman” (Lacan Seminar, Book 15)
With the first sentence Freud summed up the erotic life of some men... and it was the end of our last meeting.
We will start in February with the second question: “Does man desire women, or does man desire a woman”
(“Man's head entangled in woman's hair” was painted by Munch, not by chance)
Lacan taught about a structural condition that marks one misunderstanding between the sexes: a disjunction between love and desire.
We follow in february studying the difference between the concepts of love and desire in Lacan’s theory.
We’ll take as long as we need to understand these important issues.
Let's talk together freely of everything that concerns us (and then we can continue talking in one of the bars of the neighborhood)
