An Evening at the Museum
Join us, this Friday, for an evening of art, drinks and music. The
Philadelphia Museum of Art has extended hours on Friday nights with free admission after 5pm. Check out the cool new vault spaces on the lower floor designed by Frank Gehry. Of course, there are plenty of interesting newish exhibitions currently on display.
We will meet on the stairs in the PMA's famous Great Stair Hall at around 6:45pm for a Juneteenth concert at the Friday Lounge. Feel free to come early...or late. BTW, the number of people attending these Friday events is much smaller than in pre-COVID times so it's a great opportunity to enjoy your favorite paintings and sculptures in peace.
And yes, since it's indeed a Friday, there are pre- and post-events too...
BEFORE meeting at the PMA...several of us will be pre-gaming at the Rodin Garden Bar (i.e., the Rodin Sculpture Garden on the Ben Franklin Pkwy), hosted by PMA's Young Friends group with DJ Rashid Zakat in the garden oasis. That event starts at 4pm.
AFTER the PMA event...we will head next door to the newly opened MilkBoy Philly-manned beer garden at Eakins Oval, directly in front of the PMA.
