Fundación Camino a Casa is a non-profit rescue based in Quito, Ecuador. This outstanding organization operates with the assistance from animal advocates to accomplish one mission: to save the street dogs of Ecuador. Fundación Camino a Casa is devoted to helping the nation’s homeless pets – thousands of them – from starvation, disease, serious medical conditions and violent deaths, often by human hands. They run a weekly street feeding program that feeds approximately Protected content animals, low cost veterinary wellness clinics, spay and neutering campaigns, rehabilitation, foster care and community outreach programs. They help the animals that nobody else wants – the animals that otherwise face certain death.
Unfortunately Ecuador’s homeless animal population is growing rapidly. One unspayed female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies in only six years. In seven years, one female cat and her offspring can produce 370,000 kittens (Source: PETA). The only solution is to manage the homeless dog and cat population in order to stop this rapid growth through spay and neuter campaigns.
On September 9 and 10, Protected content , Fundación Camino a Casa will hold a spay and neuter campaign in southern Quito. They will arrive with a team of veterinary surgeons and technicians to perform the surgeries on up to Protected content and cats. For every $15 donated, one dog or cat will receive the necessary medication and be spayed/neutered. Fundación Camino a Casa also needs monetary donations to purchase medical supplies, tables, lights, food for the animals and volunteer teams. Every cent raised will go directly to the spay and neuter campaign.
Please take a moment to visit their Facebook page and look at the photos and stories of the thousands of lives they have changed so far..
