Diving at the Laguna de la Media Luna is one of the in-country highlight diving spots in Mexico. It´s an all-year hot spring lagoon, with constant up to 30 Celsius, crystal clear waters and caves formed by plant roots. At the ground of the lake it´s possible to find two mammoth skeletons, so the lake is also known as “The Mammoth Lake”. The skeletons are conserved due to the karst and highly alkaline origin of the water with low level of oxygen. On 1.000 Meters over sea level, it´s 36.7 Meters deep and with a spring flow of 5.000 Ltr/sec at the bottom. It´s a secure gated park area, with camping grounds, lot of trees and very nice for swimming and spend a great nature weekend.

Diving considerations: Media Luna is, due to 1.000 Meter over sea level, considered an altitude dive - so be aware of this important circumstance. Using Altitude-Decompression-Tables with conversion factor calculations or using computers with mountain program. Special training “Altitude” is not required (Padi AOWD, CMAS**, etc.) but knowledge recommendable.

Organization: Please send via message your individual scuba equipment requirements to forward to the dive base – that maybe allows increasing the participants.
