Rachmaninoff: All-Night Vigil, A Cappella Choral Performance
Come and join us for a choral presentation of rarely performed Rachmaninoff: All-Night Vigil, a 15-movement piece for a 12-part chorus, followed by two pieces by Boston area composers.
Hauntingly beautiful, all-Night Vigil is an a cappella choral composition by Sergei Rachmaninoff, his Op. 37. The piece has been praised as Rachmaninoff's finest achievement, and the composer requested that its fifth movement (Нынѣ отпущаеши, Nunc dimittis) be sung at his funeral.
Presented by the Camberville Somerchoir
Co-directed by Holly Druckman and Lorraine Fitzmaurice.
Program:
Sergei Rachmaninoff "All Night Vigil"
Jacob Druckman "Corinna Goes a Maying"
Rebecca Sacks "Tree Soldier"
Ticket cost: $25 suggested donation, but pay-what-you-can; no-one turned away at the door. Payable by cash or venmo at the door.
