!PRESENTATION¡ Coptic Egyptian manuscripts!
Coptic Egyptian is the latest stage of development of the ancient Egyptian language. Coptic flourished as a literary language from the 2nd to 13th centuries, and was spoken in Egypt until at least the 17th century. Hardly a modern read, I know, but everything has its roots and history and tracing them gives additional insight and feel about their modern equivalents.
The Science Basement (TSB) hosts a presentation, and a consequent discussion, lead by Ivan Miroshnikov about a collection of unpublished preserved Coptic manuscripts. It grants a chance to get familiar with an old language and its literary culture from the edge between antiquity and the middle ages.
The event is part of TSB's series "An AFTERNOON in the science basement". TSB is an initiative by a group of science students, with the aim to communicate modern science in an easy and accessible way and to share their passion about it. Let's go there and share something ourselves!
See you at the presentation!
