From Violence to Healing: Why I Confronted my Perpetrator
Thordis Elva was 16 when she was raped in her hometown in Iceland by her then boyfriend Tom Stranger, an 18-year-old exchange student from Australia. After many years of agony, she wrote to Tom to tell him of the pain he had inflicted on her. This marked the start of an eight-year correspondence culminating in the two of them meeting in Cape Town in Protected content , and later the writing of the book, South of Forgiveness: A True Story of Rape and Responsibility, an unusual collaboration between survivor and perpetrator.
The Protected content hosts a unique discussion with author and activist Thordis Elva about rape, forgiveness and sexual consent.
