Long Live the Revolution! Mechanisms of Social Change
“There is nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come”
Trapped in the present, in a country with a set of rules that don’t seem to change a lot, we might come to think that the institutions, customs or rules of the game are given forever. However the history of humanity has been a story of dramatic changes, sometimes quick and violent, and seldom foreseeable in advance.
This raises a question – what are the factors that lead to an explosion of social creativity? Understanding this key point will be the first step in order to bring about a more favourable trajectory for the suture of this country.
We’ll get together and with coffee or other beverage in hand talk to other human beings that are as passionate as ourselves about finding answers.
Some subjects we’ll touch on:
• Structural causes and triggers of social change
• Revolution or evolution – which should we prefer?
• How can we be a force for good in social change?
• How do societies make decisions?
Upon finishing the get-together, we will have discussed the causes behind social change and its ideal timing, together with our possible contributions.
We will meet at 7 PM, on the second floor of the cafe (large table). Ask for Jan at the entrance.
Everyone is welcome, together with their plus ones, ideas and perspectives.
• 7:00 – 7:30: Welcome and initial chat
• 7:20 – 9:50: Discussion in groups
• 9:50 – 10:00: Selfie time, close
