Latin America: Progress or Death? (In Spanish)
There are many stories we tell ourselves about Latin America. One say we have great potential, if only it were possible to break free of corruption. Another references the original sin of European colonization and paints an idyllic picture of the Pre-Hispanic past. And yet another story claims that the presence of a nefarious Big Brother, the US, is what holds us back, and liberation from under the American yoke will bring about the utopia we seek.
In order to plant ourselves firmly in the present and build our future we need to reconcile with these narratives. We’ll talk about this and more searching for the solution that can bring us closer to a fuller, more dignified and abundant life in the region we call home.
We’ll get together in front of our screens and with coffee or other beverage in hand talk to other human beings that are as passionate as ourselves about finding answers.
Some subjects we’ll touch on:
•What’s holding Latin America back?
•The past – unnecessary obsession or essential lesson?
•Violence – symptom or cause?
•Corruption – why does it exist and how to fight it?
•What can we do at the individual level?
•And so much more!
Upon finishing the get-together, we will have presented our visions of the Latin American past and proposed solutions aimed at improving the life of the continent.
