Crime and Punishment: Sins, Crimes, and their Consequences
In our contemporary societies we feel that the rich, powerful or famous can get away with everything, while all the others receive harsh punishments for even the smallest of peccadillos.
But let’s take it one step further – are we even punishing and judging actions in the right way? It’s also worth asking whether everything that we consider bad, deserving of punishment, truly is, and conversely – what actions or attitudes should we add to the “list of sins”?
We’ll get together in front of our screens and with coffee or other beverage in hand talk to other human beings that are as passionate as ourselves about finding answers.
Some subjects we’ll touch on:
•Good and evil – what to base them on?
•Legal, illegal, semi-legal – is the law up to speed?
•The collapse of religions and the new morality
•Current punishment - adequate?
•Vigilantes, witch hunts, mob mentality
•Socioeconomic class and access to justice
•And so much more!
Upon finishing the get-together, we will have analyzed the reasons for the social and legal punishments being what they are and identified the pros and cons of the current system.
