Old Age: The Best or Worst Life Can Offer? (In Spanish)
Our last stage of life, which, with a bit of luck, we should all reach, is full of contradictions. On the one hand we speak of our “golden years”, on the other poverty and loneliness among senior citizens are a true epidemic. On the plus side we can mention life satisfaction, which tends to increase with years lived on this planet, and yet too many elderly people are treated as “poor little things”, not taken into account, infantilized, looked down on.
We encounter the paradox of age – as we get older, we accumulate more wisdom and life experiences, but our energy levels decrease and chronic illnesses appear. In many parts of the world this problem is aggravated by insufficient retirement schemes.
We’ll get together in front of our screens and with coffee or beverage in hand talk to other human beings that are as passionate as us about finding answers.
Some subjects we’ll touch on:
•The elderly in society – invisible people?
•The opportunities and challenges of old age
•Infantilization of senior citizens – a real problem?
•Happiness, health, and quality of life
•Loneliness among the elderly in a changing world
•And so much more!
Upon finishing the get-together, we will reflect on the good and the bad that comes with age and shared suggestions on how to improve our last stages of life.
