BLACK ICE :( CANCELLING Into the Woods: Mid-Winter Sunrise Walk
Dear All,
The paths today are covered in Black Ice - sheets of ice and it is barely possible to stay standing. So I hope you will understand if I cancel this activity. With regrets. I will postpone it to next year provisionally. Pity. On Saturday morning with the snow, it was a perfect climb and sunrise.

Let's take a pre-dawn hike up the Altkönig to greet and welcome the sunrise on this shortest day of the year, the Winter Solstice.
If you've not walked up to the Altkönig before then this is a magical hilltop with the ancient remains of a hill fort.
There was a Celtic presence here before the Romans, and gold has been mined in this area over the centuries. Gorgeous views and vistas can be seen across the Taunus and the Main.
Please bring your own sandwiches and something to drink for the journey, as we will not make a stop at a restaurant (they will be closed!)
