In to the Woods...In the footsteps of the Romans (25 km hike)...

Dear all,
Let's tramp our way along the Limes and say Hello to the Romans we meet along the way. The climb is about Protected content , and the length of the circular hike about 25 km.
Up upon the forest ridge known as the Limes stands the foundations of the old Roman watch towers of the Limes fortifications - a kind of Hadrian's Wall or a Maginot Line from Protected content ago; though perhaps one it wasn't so easy to walk around.... And over thousands of years has this ridge has seen many towers built and fall to ruin. Indeed, the 'Limes' meant 'Limit' and this was once the furthest North-Western extent of the Roman Empire, and there are numerous remains of the Roman towers still to be found here.
Please bring water to drink for the journey, and snacks to eat along the way. Protected content
Looking forward to seeing you!
