May: the Third Man Month - 1. the Movie
May will be a month dedicated to The Third Man. Movie, tour and book, we will explore Vienna in the late 40s through this black and white classic.
The Third Man is a Protected content noir directed by Carol Reed, written by Graham Greene, and starring Joseph Cotten, Alida Valli, Orson Welles and Trevor Howard. Set in post-World War II Allied-occupied Vienna, the film centres on American writer Holly Martins (Cotten), who arrives in the city to accept a job with his friend Harry Lime (Welles), only to learn that he has died. Martins stays in Vienna to investigate Lime's death, becoming infatuated with Lime's girlfriend Anna Schmidt (Valli).
The film is permanently on the programme of the Burg Kino, on Sundays and Tuesdays. We have chosen to see it together on 11.05., 16:00 (estimated start time, will update on Monday 5th).
I will reserve tickets for us, you will be able to pick them up before the show. We have a group discount, the cost will be EUR 9,00.
