Incendies is a Protected content mystery-drama film written and directed by Denis Villeneuve. The story concerns Canadian twins who travel to their mother's native country in the Middle East to uncover her hidden past amidst a bloody civil war. While the country is unnamed, the events in the film are heavily influenced by the Lebanese Civil War and particularly the story of prisoner Souha Bechara. The film was shot mainly in Montreal, with a few days spent in Jordan.

The event will go as follows:

18:00 to 19: Protected content arrives. We'll be pouring glasses of wine, beer, or cocktails and getting to know each other.

20: Protected content Starts *Do note, as often we engage in great conversation, the start time varies a bit. If you have an issue or concern with a tight agenda, just let us know.

22: Protected content Ends

22: Protected content - We'll discuss the film and eat desserts.

-------------------------------------- Protected content

To participate, please be willing to contribute TWO of the following (any combination): You will notice we pick items from the country where the film takes place, because it's Canadian/Middle Eastern themes we'll showcase a mixture of both regions.

- a "Canadian or Middle Eastern" inspired hors d'oeuvres/appetizer, or main dish to share before the film, when we'll spend some time getting to know each other.

- a "Canadian or Middle Eastern" dessert to share during our discussion after the film.

- a bottle (or two, if you are unable to bring an appetizer or dessert) of wine, beer, or cocktail to share throughout.

As we get closer to the event, everyone coming should post what they're planning to bring on the message board. This helps all of us to see what else we need, and avoid duplicates.

**Please sign in on the guest list only if you are sure to come, and remember to cancel your attendance in case you can’t make it anymore. This way you won’t prevent other members from coming, as we often have a wait list and space is limited since it's a private residence. Thank you for your understanding!
