Summit of Aquila
this hike is a little more demanding then the Fontana Mura hike.
Here the path is quite steep at times and we are claiming a lot more on a shorter track.
We will meet briefly in Giaveno, easy to reach for everyone, then continue to Alpe Colombino where we are going to leave the cars. We will start at an altitude of Protected content so dress warm please.
The hike should take roughly 2 hours with an height difference of Protected content ... we ca take a break at the intermediate Rifugio Mitt Protected content although it will probably be closed ... packed lunch all around then !
Our aim is to get to Protected content at he Summit where the Cross is.
From there you'll have a 360° view over the Marittime Alps, the Monte Rosa (pink) and beyond.
We will have to check weather conditions closer to the day to know whether to bring rampons, snowshoes or neither.
This hike is of a medium difficulty so be prepared to work fairly hard to get to the magnificent view at the summit.
For those who want to stop for lunch at the intermediate point and wait for the rest of the group to get to the summit and back, it is also an option. On a good day, in March, temperatures should be pleasant.
I hope to see many of you
