Walking around Monferrato hills

On the occasion of the Salamino festival of Moncestino, Cammini Divini proposes a walk on Sunday 2 April, organized in collaboration with the municipal administration and the Pro Loco. The meeting point is at 9 am near the town hall of Moncestino in Piazza Marconi, departure at 9.30. It is an easy ring excursion on the hills around the characteristic Monferrato village straddling the hills and the adjacent Po valley with numerous panoramic views of particular beauty. The path follows in many sections the historic route called 'On the roads of the Resistance ' with some testimonies of the historical events that took place during the Second World War, including positions for the machine guns of the partisans and old huts where some British airmen found refuge after parachuting in the area. Overall, the walk winds for almost 8 km with a of about Protected content for a duration of about 3 hours. At the end it will be possible to stop on site for the lunch of the festival which returns after years of suspension due to the pandemic, organized by the Proloco di Moncestino based on Salamino, cotechino with purée, omelette, pasta and beans and much more (a la carte dishes and prices).
