Ladj Lyn's debut directing, LES MISÉRABLES of the modern age, is a wild and magnificent interpretation of the DEATH classic. Compared to Spike Lee's work, the film won the prestigious Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival main competition and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best International Film. It also won four César Awards, among others. the best movie award.
LES MISÉRABLES reports on clashes between police and young civilians in a small concrete curb in the Paris suburb. The venue is Montfermeil - the same as Victor Hugo's original work in Protected content . Hugo was an active human rights activist who, through his novel, wanted to change the society of his time. Over Protected content later, the similarities between today's children and Gavroche are as clear as water. The final scene in the film causes the viewer to breathe and seeks out his peer.
