A private collection of video art, housed in GDR architecture
I have yet to get excited about video art, and have been curious about the Protected content for the longest time, so reading this review of one of their current exhibitions made me decide to finally give it a chance: Protected content
A word on the building: The collection is housed in what used to be the Czechoslovakian Cultural Institute of the GDR, "a structure that was built in the Protected content and united various functions such as a library, a movie theatre, showrooms, and administration spaces under one roof. Following the demise of the German Democratic Republic, when the cultural institute was closed, it was used for temporary, mostly cultural programs, yet it was never remodeled, thus making it a rare example of an unadulterated location in Berlin-Mitte which remains true to its original state".
Should anyone feel like going for a meal afterwards, there is an OK Chinese restaurant across the street, and of there are many other options for drinks and meals on Gendarmenmarkt.
PS as usual, if you want to contact me after the event has started, please send me a whatsapp message (and do not call me once inside the exhibition space). Thank you.
