A long weekend is about to happen and if you haven´t decided yet what to do or visit, here is an idea you might want to consider.
Ruins of the Kalø Castle and monastery plus the "Stone age memoires" around Mols Bjerge.
Initially it was conceived as a Mountain Bikers event but , in order to suite the vast majority i decided to alter it so it would fit others requirements as well.
Here is the plan: Saturday morning the 8 th of June, You can eitherProtected content You may agree with the driver regarding fuel costs. If you dont mind waking up 2 hours earlier (depending on your condition, maybe even earlier) and do a little motion you might as well cycle to the start point. The tour around the castle shuldn` take more than 2 hours (10. Protected content . After that we can hold a lunch break and at 13.00 we should be at Knebel and gather up in parking spot of Porskær stenhus. The event is restricted to 7 people, but if there are enough cars i can extend the limit so no one les is left behind. (In my car there`s room for 4 other people and 3 other bikes on the carrier, there is one more participant with 3 free seats available in his car.)
After admiring the Dolmens of Porskær, we can walk into the wilderness of Mols bjerge and among others can see: Tinghulen, Agri Bavnehøj + Agri Dyssen (which is the geographical center of Demark if we take in consideration the Islands of Bornholm) Trehøje and the list may continue depending on our physical condition and meal reserves, though we should be back at the Knebels bus station around 18.00Protected content Costs 47 dkk and you have a transfer to make in Rønde, the whole trip takes just a little bit over an hour until Århus
For those who wish an overnightning we have a spot we can take near Porskær hus, it is called primitive shelters place, some of you have already tried it and if there is no drought until then, we can have a bonfire and cook potatoes, corn, and ... barbeque steaks. Remember to bring warm sleeping bags. Those who wish more privacy are welcome to bring tents, there is room for about 7 to 10 people in a shelter, depending on their condition and our tolerance.
The tour starts the second day at 09.30. We can buy provisions later in Knebel, and either by car or (less probably but not impossible) by bicycles can visit amongst others: Dragsmur and further south the German sea bunker, the Sletterhage Light Tower and the "German watch tower" - Tysktåret built during the second World War to guard the entrance in the gulfs towards Arhus and Ebeltoft.
As a curiosity, you may have the chance to see two ferry liners from Mols linje, one sailing into Ebeltoft harbour at 10.40 and the other departing at 11.30 towards Sjællands Odder- tickets are still available at around Protected content if anyone wants a short cut home to Arhus, or to Sjælland. (Take it easy, we will watch them relatively far from the terminal, and from … the other side of the gulf )
After that, we head towards Mols laboratoriet, Fem Møllers, admire the old style Houses and the second day tour would end in Ebeltoft, near Jyllands Fragate, and a walk in the old city center, (maybe a short turn in their lovely Graveyard) their cafes and ice houses are very cosy and highly ranket by the tourists. Busses take to Arhus at 17.00, 18.00, 20.00 and 22.00.
Updates are on the way. Let us know in time how many of you want to continue for 2 days, and how many wish to come for just one.
The photos you see are taken personally by me and i hold their copyrights hehe !
