An Evening with Laura Wilkinson - Skin Deep

Join Laura Wilkinson as she discusses her latest novel ‘Skin Deep’ which is set primarily in Hulme during the mid-late Protected content . As well as capturing the essence of the city during this period, it covers important themes such as the conflict between external appearance and internal truth, art and beauty, and the legacy of parental exploitation. It questions what lies beneath the surface of two character’s experience of the world. One who is seen as physically beautiful and another who is seen as physically ugly.

Laura will highlight the inspiration behind the book, Hulme, what is beautiful anyway and the dangers of parental exploitation. Set against the backdrop of Hulme and Manchester in the Protected content , and Protected content London, it is a compelling and moving story.
