Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's late work "Elijah" is a story about true faith and the search for God. These themes shaped the composer, who was born a Jew and raised a Protestant, throughout his life, and which he staged as pure drama in "Elijah" with a large choir, large orchestra, and a lavish cast of soloists.
The masterpiece "For He Has Commanded His Angels" was composed in Bad Soden and incorporated into "Elijah" the following year.
