28 Oct. is the 9th day of the 9th month in Chinese lunar calendar. It is called the Double Ninth Day or Double Positive Day. In the Book of Changes, 6 is defined as a negative number and 9 as a positive one. So 9 Sept. is called the Double Positive Day. People generally celebrate the day by going out to feel the beauty of autumn, climbing to a high place for a broader view, watching chrysanthemum, wearing cornel, eating Chongyang (double ninth) cake, and drinking chrysanthemum wine. The Day was shaped in the Warring States period.
Let’s hike in Mt. Yangtai that also has the character “阳”(positive) in its name.
How to get there:
We will drive there or you can take subway line 16 and get off at Bei’anhe(北安河).
The path is rugged so you have to wear proper shoes. We will have picnic at the top of the mountain. So you can take your own foods and drinks.
