This Sunday, we will be walking by the sea! Join us on 27 th of March as we re hiking on Kınalıada.

Kınalıada means "Henna Island" in Turkish, as the land has a reddish colour from the iron and copper that has been mined here. This is one of the least forested of the Prince Islands. Kınalıada was the island most used as a place of exile under the Byzantine Empire. The most notable exile was emperor Romanos IV Diogenes, after the Battle of Manzikert in Protected content , who remained in the Monastery of the Transfiguration on Hristo Peak of the island.

We will walk around 7 km. During our hike we'll have several breaks including our lunch and Monastery of the Transfiguration on Hristos Peak. Hike is expected to take around 4h with 90 metres of ascent. This is an easy hike so everybody can attend.

Please wear comfortable shoes and trousers. You should bring your own lunch and at least 1L water. If you have a thermos with hot water you can enjoy your tea while relaxing in the woods.

Ferry from Kabataş departs at 12:00 to Kınalıada. This boat stops at Kadiköy and departs again to Kınalıada at 12:25 to and reachs the island at 13:05. Boat Mavi Marmara from Bostancı departs at 12:15 and reachs the Kınalıada at 12:50. We'll meet up in front of Protected content and start our hike at 13:10 sharp.

At the end of hike we could have a meal together at the island. The ones who don't want to stay for dinner can take the 18:20 boat to Kadiköy/Kabataş.
