Sheikh Faisal Museum
It’s been a few years since we visited the Hardest Working Museum in Qatar, but what better time than August? Come marvel at the world-renowned, scholarly-curated collection of M&M-coloured Chevrolet sedans, reconstruction of Bedouin desert camp replete with wooden model ass, rickshaws, penny-farthing bicycles, antique telephones (even a Nokia!), oriental rugs, dhows on artificial pond, etc. Everything under the Arabian desert sun, you name it, de Sheikh got it! There actually is something for everyone, to satisfy every curiosity, and it’s all housed under one Beaux-Arts revival desert fort.
The Museum’s website says it takes 30 minutes driving from central Doha. Without impugning the local sense of punctuality and exactitude, let’s assume 60 minutes driving. For those who need a ride, let’s convene at Protected content at 9.00 a.m.
