BNM lectures | Buddhism & Medicine in Chinese culture
Talk by C. Pierce SALGUERO, PhD; Associate Professor of Asian History & Religious Studies, The Abington College of Penn State University, USA
There are deep historical roots to the connections between Buddhism and healthcare, as well as a diversity of Buddhist healing methods. Dr. Salguero’s talk will explore the history of Buddhist engagements with medicine, with special focus on China. He will outline the many rich and complex approaches to healing that have been (and still are) used in Chinese Buddhist communities, and will suggest directions for further historical and clinical research.
