We plan to visit few sites of the ancient kingdom sustained a continuous monarchical succession through 34 reigns from Protected content Protected content 400 years

the outline of our excursion includes
the Museum whch gives a nice overview of the area
~~Wat Mahathat Protected content temple of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. “The temple of the Great Relic”
~~Wat Phra Si Sanphet Protected content the most iconic and the holiest temple on the site of the old Royal Palace

Lunch at Thai restaurant Protected content (as an option)

~~Wat Yai Chaimongkhol Protected content the Great Monastery of Auspicious Victory
~~Wat Phanan Choeng Protected content . The Buddha Image itself measures 14.25 meters from knee to knee, and 19 meters in height

Francis Lampel is a tour guide at the National Bangkok Museum, kindly offered to share his insights on the history of an ancient capital and it’s monuments. We also might consider to hire a local guide, depending on the situation on site.
In a meanwhile, you are welcome to read on the subject on your own to fully emerge into the history of the place. It would make it much more interesting, memorable, educational and fun. (see links)

Even though most monuments are in ruins, they are sacred places to Buddhists. we are being respectful towards images of the Buddha. the dress code for active temples: long pants or long skirts, no bare shoulders, removing shoes before entering a temple building
