A tea history spanning several millennia and dazzlingly recounted in over nine hundred pages cannot be satisfactorily summarized in just a single lecture. Professor van Driem will on an exhilarating journey to the past of high points of tea history. There are few episodes relating to the role of tea in the Kingdom of Siam and the place where Thailand holds in the history of tea.

Lecture by George van Driem directs the Linguistics Institute at the University of Bern. He has written grammars of Limbu, Dzongkha, Bumthang and Dumi and authored the two-volume ethnolinguistic handbook Languages of the Himalayas.
