Three Modern Opera Heroines
This is the last event of Opera Siam's Protected content and we're presenting the astonishing soprano Cassandra Black from the US with the Siam Sinfonietta and myself conducting in three big pieces that have never been seen in Thailand:
Three Fragments from "Wozzeck" — the wild expressionist piece that rebooted the idea of opera in Protected content The Final Scene from Strauss's "Salome" banned all over Europe in Protected content now a classic of lush depravity in opera • and a never-before-heard sneak preview of my upcoming opera "Helena Citronova", which tells the true story of a Slovak Jew in Auschwitz who had a searing relationship with an SS-man.
(The suite from Helena Citronova will have its "official" premiere in September in a music festival in the Czech Republic followed by a live broadcast on Slovak national radio).
I'm going to invite Cassandra Black to come out to the lobby after the show for a meet and greet with members of the group. I won't be able to meet personally before it starts because I'm conducting but will meet everyone afterwards.
The tickets are on sale at 1/2 price from Ticket Melon until the end of the month. If you don't get one in advance, mention "Internations" to Khun Watsiri at the ticket counter before the show to receive the discount.
