Tesagan Gin Je, literally “Festival for Eating Vegan”, takes place for about nine to ten days in the ninth lunar month. It’s also known as the Nine Emperor Gods Festival and is celebrated by Chinese descendants in South East Asian countries. All Chinese communities in Thailand take part in this festival but one of the most famous is held in Bangkok, around Chinatown and Talad Noi. As well as eating vegetarian food, during the nine days of the festival you can observe a number of parades that are organized by each shrine, all great fun with dancing dragons and firecrackers. The area will be decorated with yellow flags, signifying the Vegetarian Festival.

It is unlikely we will find somewhere to sit down to eat, so the walk will focus on tasting and enjoying the many kinds of vegetarian food that will be on offer at street stalls. All food is technically vegan with additional restrictions of no garlic, onion, and a little more.
