Lifestyle and Work of a Musician - The Mendelssohn-Haus

You know the famous Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. Have you ever been to his apartment in Leipzig? It is the only one which is originally reconstructed. On 31st October the Mendelssohn House celebrates his 25th birthday. The composer, pianist and organist worked here and lived here with his family.
Let´s climb up the historic stairs as his visitors and friends did. Among them were the couple Clara und Robert Schumann, Richard Wagner and Hans Christian Andersen. Let´s explore his work as well as his authentic lifestyle, the interior and original fine watercolours he painted. At the modern „Effectorium“ you can try your hand at conducting virtual musicians. In this way you can experience the sounds of Mendelssohn Bartholdy´s music at different places. After a guided tour at the museum we will attend a walk around the city center and get to know important places and maybe maybe hidden stories which contribute to Leipzig´s reputation as a center of music.
At this event we can welcome InterNations members and classic music enthusiasts from the United Kingdom, who visit this year´s Bach festival. After the guided tour we can have lunch or a drink and a chat together. I look forward to meeting you there.
PLEASE NOTE: We visit the museum together with the Leipzig Out & About Group. If you are a member of both groups please register just once. Thank you. I look forward to meeting you there.
