Two men from opposing sides and one woman are thrown together by the fortunes of war - a typical love triangle. Except what's not typical about it is that none of them can speak each others' languages and they all have very different understandings of what the others are saying.

Kukushka Protected content an unconventional love story, a fiercely anti-war movie, and a touching comedy. It is late Protected content a Russian soldier and a Finnish soldier have been condemned to death by their own sides. Fate leads them to a young Sami widow who doesn't care for the war, or even understand the concept of nation-states. Her preoccupation is with getting ready for the coming winter.

I'm happy to say this movie is now available on YouTube with English subtitles and is definitely not one to be missed. It has a lot to say about our international and common humanity. I'll leave the link up for people to watch in their own time, and if enough people post on the wall we can have a talk about it on Zoom in about 10 days from now? Please post up what you think of this idea.

Lots of fun is made out of language misunderstandings. When the Russian in annoyance tells the others to 'get lost!' in Russian, they assume he's telling them his name, which is what they call him :-D
