Easy to Medium Circular Hike to Lac de Pormenaz (2000m)
Dear hiking friends,
firstly please click the button “Read more” at the bottom and please read the ENTIRE text!
The weather forecast for coming Sunday has improved and looks quite good! Mainly sunny and upto 15 degrees in the lowlands with a slight risk of a shower in the morning. Therefore here comes the next hike: it is a beautiful hike to Lac de Pormenaz Protected content . This hike offers great views on the Mont Blanc Massif.
This is an easy to medium hike. Technically the hike is mainly rather easy with a short more technical passage before reaching the Lake with some ladders and chains. The hike means a climb of around Protected content .
We start the hike in the forest and follow the path that winds up through the forest. A bit later we reach a beautiful alpage allowing the first views on the Mont Blanc. Later it becomes a bit steeper in rocky terrain and we might need to use use our hands for some ladders and chains. Having passed this we arrive soon at the lake. Perhaps it is already partly frozen. Be also prepared to cross some snowfields up there. At the beautiful lake we will have our lunch break picnic style. So everyone should bring his/her own food to share with others or to save from others :-).
On the way down we follow the smooth path over a lovely alpage until the path becomes a bit steeper again in the forest before we reach the parking.
All in all this is a beautiful autumn hike hopefully giving us some colorful impressions of the mountains. Participants should be physically fit (so should be able to run for half an hour without a break!) and need to be secure on their feet. We should be able to make the hike in about Protected content depending on the group size and the speed.
We are meeting on Sunday at 08:30am on Place de Neuve in front of Conservatoire de Musique for a prompt leave at 08:45am!
We should arrive at the parking behind Servoz around 09:45am. The coordinates are: 45°56'35.11"N and 6°46'17.68"E.
Proper equipment (especially a pair of solid hiking shoes) is mandatory! Sun protection, hiking poles and at least 1.5 liters of water are highly recommended!
Looking forward to see you
If seriously interested, please sign in here and (IMPORTANT!) indicate if you need a space in a car or can provide spaces in your car. Without this indication a sign-in CANNOT be accepted! (due to experiences in the past). Please only sign in, in case you are really convinced to join!!!
Unfortunately there are always some candidates signing in, not reacting on any message and finally not showing up! Pretty annoying that they block other candidates' spaces who really would have liked to join!
Participants needing a ride will pay to the driver or the owner of the car a petrol contribution of 8 Swiss Cent per km in an unasked way. And the peage is also being shared by all passengers. For example: a tour to Chamonix and back is Protected content and would be 12 CHF per passenger for petrol. Additionally ca. 12 EUR peage needs to be shared as well depending on the number of people in the car.
