Medium to Advanced Hike to Tete de Pelouse (2539m) in the Aravis
Dear hiking friends,
firstly please click the button “Read more” at the bottom and please read the ENTIRE text!
After a break of two weeks we want to continue the hiking season. The weather forecast for coming Sunday looks very good! Sunny and warm (not too hot anymore!) and only a little risk of showers and thunderstorms. Therefore let us escape to the mountains and do a beautiful circular hike to the Tete de Pelouse Protected content in the Aravis chain.
This is a medium to advanced hike. Technically the hike is mainly rather easy but at the end near the peak we need to climb a bit and need to use our hands. Physically the hike means quite a challenging climb of around Protected content so participants need to be physically really fit!
We start the hike from the car parking in Les Confins about 5 km behind Las Clusaz. The path starts winding up the Combe de Grand Crets first over a nice alpage and then over more and more rocky terrain. Probably we even have to cross some snow patches. At the end we have to traverse a boulder field and climb a ridge we follow to the peak. Here we will have our lunch break picnic style and enjoy the fanstastic view on the Aravis and the Mont Blanc Massif. Everyone should bring his/her own food to share with others or to save from others :-).
On the way down we follow the path through the Combe de Bella Cha back to the parking. Next to the parking there are two farms where we can purchase the delicious homemade cheese "Tomme".
All in all this is a very scenery hike that leads us into the heart of the Aravis Massif. Participants should be physically fit (so should be able to run for half an hour without a break!) and need to be secure on their feet. We should be able to make the hike in about Protected content depending on the group size and the speed.
We are meeting on Sunday at 08:30am on Place de Neuve in front of Conservatoire de Musique for a prompt leave at 08:30am!
We should arrive at the parking in Les Confins around 10:00 am. The coordinates are: 45°55'23.27"N and 6°29'1.49"E.
Proper equipment (especially a pair of solid hiking shoes) is mandatory! Sun protection, hiking poles and at least 2 liters of water are highly recommended!
After you have signed in please check on Saturday eve your mailbox, because I will send a message with the latest updates on logistics, weather etc.
Looking forward to see you on Sunday
If seriously interested, please sign in here and (IMPORTANT!) indicate if you need a space in a car or can provide spaces in your car. Without this indication a sign-in CANNOT be accepted! (due to experiences in the past). Please only sign in, in case you are really convinced to join!!!
Unfortunately there are always some candidates signing in, not reacting on any message and finally not showing up! Pretty annoying that they block other candidates' spaces who really would have liked to join!
Participants needing a ride will pay to the driver or the owner of the car a petrol contribution of 8 Swiss Cent per km in an unasked way. And the peage is also being shared by all passengers. For example: a tour to Chamonix and back is Protected content and would be 12 CHF per passenger for petrol. Additionally ca. 12 EUR peage needs to be shared as well depending on the number of people in the car.
