Dear hiking friends,
firstly please click the button “Read more” at the bottom and please read the ENTIRE text!

The weather forecast for coming Sunday looks quite good! Mainly sunny and upto 20 degrees in the lowlands. Therefore here comes the next hike: it is the Aiguille de Varan a pretty prominent peak high above Passy and Sallaches.

This is a medium to advanced hike. Technically the hike is mainly not too difficult but near the peak we need to climb a rather technical chimney. The entire hike means a climb of around Protected content . Therefore participants need to be really physically fit!

We start the hike in the forest from Coudray on Protected content . After the forest we reach the Chalets de Varan and a beautiful alpage. Then the path winds up over more rocky and pretty steep terrain. At the very end just before the peak we need to climb a rather technical chimney. On the really airy but spectacular peak we will have our lunch break pinic style. So everyone should bring his/her own food to share with others or to save from others :-). And we will enjoy a fantastic Protected content views from there.

On the way down we need to take the same path. We also can have a refreshing drink on the Chalets de Varan with a lovely view on the Mont Blanc Massif.

All in all this is a sporty autumn hike with hopefully giving us some colorful impressions of the mountains. Participants should be physically fit (so should be able to run for one hour without a break!) and need to be secure on their feet. We should be able to make the hike in about Protected content depending on the group size and the speed.

We are meeting on Sunday at Protected content

We should arrive at the parking behind Coudray in the forest around 10:00am. The coordinates are: 45°56'13.94"N and 6°40'57.01"E.

Proper equipment (especially a pair of solid hiking shoes) is mandatory! Sun protection, hiking poles and at least 1.5 liters of water are highly recommended!

Looking forward to see you

If seriously interested, please sign in here and (IMPORTANT!) indicate if you need a space in a car or can provide spaces in your car. Without this indication a sign-in CANNOT be accepted! (due to experiences in the past). Please only sign in, in case you are really convinced to join!!!
Unfortunately there are always some candidates signing in, not reacting on any message and finally not showing up! Pretty annoying that they block other candidates' spaces who really would have liked to join!

Participants needing a ride will pay to the driver or the owner of the car a petrol contribution of 8 Swiss Cent per km in an unasked way. And the peage is also being shared by all passengers. For example: a tour to Chamonix and back is Protected content and would be 12 CHF per passenger for petrol. Additionally ca. 12 EUR peage needs to be shared as well depending on the number of people in the car.
