Discovery of Castle Horst!
This moated castle is located in the green valley between the hills of the Hageland. The Heren van Horst lived here as early as the 13th century, the characteristic square keep dating from the 15th century. In the 17th century, the noble resident, Maria-Anna van den Tympel, had two wings built around the inner courtyard and carried out important embellishment works. The castle, with its large pond and moat, is the home of Willy Vandersteen's cartoon character De Rode Ridder. Around the castle stretches a beautiful castle domain, which is owned by the Agency for Nature and Forest.
