The Charming Chess Valley
THE STUNNING CHESS VALLEY
The Chess Valley Walk through the Chilterns follows the River Chess from Rickmansworth to Chesham. It passes through the beautiful Chess Valley, through attractive villages and the meandering River Chess, one of the Chilterns famed chalk streams.
We hike through a landscape rich in wildlife, with a long and fascinating history. We'll discover the site of a Roman farm-villa at Latimer
Amazing wood sculptures in Chorleywood Common
The scintillating River Chess, one of the few chalk streams in the world
The Frogmore nature reserve, full of wildflowers and amazing wildlife (red kites/deer and the elusive water vole, not to mention the alpacas along the way)
Historic sights of Chorleywood House, and Chenies (15th century Tudor manor)
Linear walk: 11 miles approx
Lunch: Please bring a packed lunch and water.
We aim to have a 30 min lunch stop around 12. Protected content
The walk finishes at approx 4.30 pm at Chesham Station with an optional pub stop at the end.
At the end of the walk, we are lucky to have the opportunity to put our feet up and take in the atmosphere at an "end of summer" street party in the market square- featuring food stalls, drinks, and music.
