Druids Grove & The Yew Tree Forest

MONDAY AUGUST 25th

Boxhill & Westhumble Station

Length: 6.0- 6.5 miles Protected content approx. Optional walk to Vineyards and back for those that are interested at the end.

Terrain: Several ascents & a few fallen trees on parts of the hike

Elevation Gain: Protected content (There will be several ascents and 1 descent)

Walking pace: Brisk

A short hike but with several ascents so don't be fooled by the short distance

This is a delightful hike through quintessential Surrey countryside encompassing stunning views over the Surrey hills.

At the end of the hike you'll have the opportunity to return to the station or extend the walk by about another 2 miles to Denbies Vineyards and back to the station if you wish.

HIGHLIGHTS

Cross a picturesque meadow, an ancient bridge and pass several cattle farms

Hike through the famous Yew Tree Forest and the Spooky Druid's

Grove where you'll see Protected content old trees

Pass the huge Norbury park estate of the former pioneer of family planning clinics and Leopold Salomans (previous owner of Boxhill)

Walk beside the quaint river Mole

Bring a packed lunch & plenty of water

There are NO PUBLIC TOILETS at the station or along the route

Very limited parking is available at Boxhill station, more parking opposite (just outside) the Stepping stones pub (along the road)
