Learn How to Make Reusable Masks - FREE Workshop!
MAKING A REUSABLE FACE MASK DOESN'T HAVE TO BE COMPLICATED! - Learn how to make reusable masks! MAKE THEM AS GIFTS FOR YOUR FAMILY OR FRIENDS! Protected content Tamara Russell, Textile Artist on Zoom for a FREE hand-made mask making workshop. - Tamara is based in Melbourne and specialises in free machine embroidery & hand stitching. Tamara's workshop is suitable for both beginners & experienced stitchers.
We'll make a home-made, non-medical face mask which we can make from our choice of fabric – make it as plain or as patterned as we like. We will NOT be working from a complex face mask pattern and we WON'T NEED A SEWING MACHINE for this workshop.
To create the mask we'll be stitching by hand with simple running stitch. The finished mask will have 2 layers of fabric, an opening on each side to add a filter and a spot at the nose to add a wire stiffener if you wish. We can also make the mask using a sewing machine after the class to speed up the process.
Materials we'll need:
- 60cm x 16cm or 35cm x 30cm piece of fine weave poly/cotton or cotton fabric
- Copy of pdf pattern – will be sent to you before the class – please have fabric cut before the class.
Protected content 3-5mm elastic (hat elastic can be used)
- Needle and thread
