Winter of Protected content upon an Ireland devastated by famine. Leaving behind a land that no longer provides for the living, a massive emigration will see hundreds of refugees embarking on a journey from Ireland to America, in searching of a better life.
Star of the Sea is one of the ships carrying Irish passengers to a hopeful new life in New York. The novel follows a microcosm of humanity gathered together on a ship bound for a new life elsewhere, while hundreds will never reach their destination and one of the main characters will be brutally murdered before setting foot on the docks.
Whatever the future holds for these passengers, each is forever marked by the passionate love and tragic loss of the land left behind.
