Diversity Communication & Relations Corner 5

- Topic: Cultural Awareness in Business Presentations
Culture is like air. It is everywhere, but sometimes we forget it exists especially in the business world. It quietly and relentlessly exerts its influences, often without us realizing it.
Nowadays, our working and business environments are becoming increasingly international, and presenting to a multi-cultural audience has become very common.
The challenge of presenting to an audience from a different or diverse cultural background(s) is two folds:
1.Understanding how your own culture is perceived by the audience.
2.Understanding the culture(s) of your audience.
In this workshop, we will discuss the core values, listening habits, information gathering/receiving, and decision-making patterns of a few selected cultures, for example, American, German, Chinese, Canadian, and Italian.
This workshop is intended to provide general guidelines and background knowledge to help you design and deliver your business presentations more effectively and improve the communication between you as a presenter and your audience.
