Historical roller coaster ride: Der Engel mit der Posaune

Come along on a Protected content long journey through 60 years of Austrian past, its radical sociological and political changes. The main personnel in this roller coaster ride through history will consist of the famed Burgtheater ensemble cast of the post World War II era – above all Oskar Werner, legendary screen and stage enigma, best known internationally for his famed appearances in Truffaut‘s „Jules et Jim“ and „Fahrenheit 451“. Rumor has it, Marlon Brando watched Werner‘s death scene from „The Last Act“ 24 times in a row!
„Der Engel mit der Posaune“ is a film adaptation of Ernst Lothar‘s novel of the same title. A somewhat Austrian version of the “Buddenbrooks“ depicting the rise and fall of a Viennese family of piano makers spanning from the Ringstraßen era until the end of World War II. The movie was released Protected content the vivid impression of the recently ended tragedy of Hitler’s regime and ensuing war. It oozes a humanistic, slow and melancholy atmosphere, that will be hard to resist.
When we meet for drinks afterwards there‘ll be plenty to discuss (relation of state and family, political opportunism, progress vs. tradition, individualism).
