Whimsical Imagination: the Life and Work of Jean-Michel Folon
Hi travellers!
Time for some local exploration again!
Jean-Michel Folon Protected content was a Belgian artist celebrated for his whimsical illustrations, paintings, and sculptures. Born in Brussels, he began his career as an illustrator for magazines and advertisements, quickly gaining recognition for his distinct style characterized by dreamlike imagery and surreal landscapes (in this respect he is often compared to René Magritte). Folon's work often explored themes of imagination, peace, and humanity, reflecting his deep concern for the world's social and environmental issues. He gained international acclaim for his murals, posters, and collaborations with organizations like UNICEF and Amnesty International. Throughout his prolific career, Folon's art captivated audiences worldwide, leaving a lasting legacy of creativity and compassion.
Since the year Protected content , a museum called Protected content that is dedicated to his life and work has been established in an old Brabant farm at the heart of the Solvay Regional Estate, on the southern edge of the Sonian Forest (Zoniënwoud/Forêt de Soignes) a mere 20 minutes driving away from the center of Brussels. Let's go and explore the museum as well as its splendid forest environment (weather permitting of course)!
