Istanbul to Edirne – A Journey through Ottoman Grandeur !

We’ll pick you up early and head to Edirne, the second capital of the Ottoman Empire, a city brimming with history and culture. After a scenic drive, we’ll stop for breakfast at a convenient location. Our first destination is Karaağaç, where we’ll visit the Lausanne Monument, symbolizing Turkey’s reclaiming of the region, and the Lausanne Museum. Next, we’ll explore the historic Karaağaç Train Station, built during Sultan Abdulhamid II’s reign, and see the iconic Black Train. Don’t miss the chance to capture photos at the Mecidiye (Meriç) Bridge, a stunning Ottoman-era bridge adorned with artistic details.
We’ll then visit the Edirne Grand Synagogue, Europe’s third-largest, rebuilt after a fire destroyed 14 others. Next, explore the Sultan Bayezid II Health Museum, a former Ottoman mental hospital that used innovative methods like water, music, and aromatherapy for treatment. Continue to the Edirne City Museum, housed in a historic mansion, where exhibits and interactive displays bring the city’s rich history to life.
The Selimiye Mosque, Mimar Sinan’s masterpiece and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a must-see, alongside the Üç Şerefeli Mosque, known for its unique architecture. Enjoy free time on Saraçlar Street to taste Edirne’s famous fried liver (ciğer) and shop at the historic Ali Pasha Bazaar, built by Mimar Sinan. As the day ends, we’ll return to Istanbul, filled with unforgettable memories of Edirne’s imperial legacy, cultural charm, and culinary delights.
