Plastic-Free July (Recap): Spotlight on Eco-Ableism
Plastic Free July® is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution.
Eco-ableism is defined as "a failure by non-disabled environmental activists to recognize that many of the climate actions they’re promoting make life difficult for disabled people".
According to the Generation Foundation, eco-ableism discriminates against and shames people with disabilities for not playing a more profound role in environmental activism.
If you joined the previous event and made a pledge to refuse single-use plastics in July, come and share your experience, challenges and wins, to inspire others.
If you missed the previous event, come to learn about Plastic-free July, and the ways that you can still participate for the rest of the month (and beyond). See attached calendar from Protected content for ideas.
We'll watch a short video approx 15 minutes on how sustainable practices can be exclusive to people living with disabilities.
